(RPM)  = (SFM x 304.8) / (Tool Dia x 3.142)

1 x Tool Dia
Tool Dia
Feed per tooth

Article 1 : Spindle speed and Feedrate calculation

In order to optimize the operating time of CNC machine while saving the expense which is caused by damaged material or either cutting tool, the spindle speed and feedrate must be appropriately determined. These values are depended on the Tool diameter, Tool type, Material and power of the spindle. The simplest formula which uses in this process are as followed,

Spindle Speed (RPM) = (SFM x 304.8)/(Tool Dia x 3.142)
Feedrate (mm/min) = Feed per tooth x Number of teeth x Spindle Speed (RPM)

while depth of cut is another key factor but it has no exact formula but what’s known to be a good value is according to quality of the tool and following formula

Depth of cut = 0.25 x Tool Dia upto 1 x Tool Dia

SFM could be obtained from the table which is depended on material type such as Aluminium has 250 – 300 SFM
Tool Dia is the diameter of cutting toolFeed per tooth is a value that deptermined the value of material cut per tooth in a rotation, Normally the value should be around 0.0762 – 0.127
Number of teeth can be counted directly from the cutting tool itself
According to this calculation, the quality of cutting piece and required time need to cut the material is optimized while the expense which cause from material burnt or broken cutting tool will be reduce significantly. Finally, I hope that this article could solve someone or anyone problem with their CNC machine.

I will try to update more factor in the next article please stay tune !!
